🚀 Recent Progress & Newly Implemented Features
This week marked an important milestone in the development of the project, where I focused on adding real-world production features that significantly improved both user experience and application reliability.
💳 Stripe Payment Gateway Integration
One of the biggest additions was integrating the Stripe payment gateway to enable secure online payments. Instead of building a custom payment flow, I implemented Stripe Checkout, which handles payment processing securely while providing a smooth and reliable user experience.
During this process, I learned how to create checkout sessions from the backend, pass order details dynamically, manage success and cancel redirects, and securely verify payments before updating order status. This gave me deeper insight into how real e-commerce platforms handle payment workflows.
📧 Automated Order Confirmation Emails
To make the application feel closer to a production-ready store, I implemented email automation using Nodemailer.
Now, whenever a user successfully places an order, the backend automatically sends an order confirmation email containing important details such as the order ID and purchase confirmation. Implementing this feature helped me understand how backend events can trigger automated communication and improve user trust and experience.
🔐 Forgot Password with OTP Email Verification
Another major improvement was implementing a secure password recovery system.
If a user forgets their password, the system generates a time-limited OTP that is automatically sent to their email. The OTP must be verified before allowing the password to be updated, ensuring a secure recovery process.
Working on this feature helped me better understand OTP generation, expiration handling, backend validation, and secure password updates using hashing techniques.
✅ Project Completion
With the successful implementation of Stripe payments, email automation, and OTP-based password recovery this week, the application has now reached the stage I originally envisioned when I started building it.
These additions completed the final pieces required for a full end-to-end e-commerce experience — from user authentication and product browsing to secure payments, automated communication, and account recovery.
What began as a learning project gradually evolved into a system that simulates how real online stores operate behind the scenes. Working through payment verification flows, email triggers, and secure authentication mechanisms gave me practical exposure to challenges that go beyond frontend development.
I’m happy to share that this marks the official completion of my Full Stack E-Commerce Website project 🎉.
This project has been a valuable learning journey, helping me understand how frontend interfaces, backend logic, databases, third-party APIs, payments, emails, and AI services come together to build a complete product.
Moving forward, I’m excited to continue building more real-world applications and further improve my skills in scalability, deployment, and system design.
